HILO on Bethropic: multiplier per card, the PASS button, and why the edge is only charged once

BethropicMaster0 views

HILO deals one card and asks whether the next will be higher or lower. Each correct call multiplies your stake; cash out whenever you like after the first correct call. Bethropic's version draws every card from a fresh 13-rank deck (with replacement), which makes the odds of every call fixed and easy to price.

The odds of each call

Ranks run A, 2, …, Q, K. HIGH on an Ace means strictly higher (12 of 13). HIGH on 2 through Queen means the same rank or higher (13 ÷ (14 − rank) chance). HIGH on a King wins only on a tie (1 in 13). LOW mirrors this. PASS skips the card at 1× and keeps your run alive.

Multiplier per card

For a HIGH call, from Ace up to King, with the standard 1% edge:

CardA2345678910JQK
HIGH pays1.061.061.161.281.421.601.832.132.573.214.286.4312.87

LOW is the same table read backwards: LOW on an Ace pays 12.87×, LOW on a King pays 1.06×.

The edge is charged once

Your running multiplier is the product of the raw odds of each call, and the 1% house edge is applied a single time when you cash out. That is different from most HILO games and it matters: a run of five correct calls costs you 1% once, not 1% five times. RTP therefore ranges from about 97.9% on very long runs (rounding on each step) up to 99.0%, with typical short runs near 99%.

The browser demo applies the edge on every call, so demo multipliers on multi-call runs read lower than what a real logged-in run pays. Trust the in-game number after login.

Strategy that actually matters

  • The safest calls are HIGH on low cards and LOW on high cards; a middle card (7 or 8) is a coin flip either way, which is exactly when PASS is worth using.
  • PASS is free in multiplier terms and costs nothing in edge. Use it on 7s and 8s instead of guessing.
  • Decide your cash-out target before the first card. Runs are capped at 52 calls, and a single wrong call ends the run at zero.

Limits and verification

Limits and the maximum profit cap are per coin, shown after login. Zero-amount runs are allowed. Each card comes from the server seed, your client seed and the nonce; the hash is shown before the deal.
