Original Dice is the simplest game on Bethropic and the best place to learn how every other original game is priced. You pick a target between 1 and 99, choose OVER or UNDER, and the server rolls a number from 0.01 to 99.99. Win and you get the payout shown before you bet. Lose and the stake is gone. That is the whole game, which is exactly why it is worth understanding properly.
How the roll works
The result is a number with two decimals from 0.01 to 99.99, drawn uniformly, so there are 9,999 possible outcomes and each is equally likely. OVER wins when the roll is strictly above your target. UNDER wins when it is strictly below. The target itself is a loss on both sides, which is where part of the house edge lives.
Targets are limited to a sensible range: OVER runs from 1.99 up to 99.00, UNDER from 1.00 up to 98.01. At the extremes you get the highest payout the game offers, 99.00× for OVER 99.00, at a win chance just under 1%.
The payout formula
The multiplier shown next to your target is computed from your win probability and the house edge:
payout = floor((1 − edge) ÷ win probability), rounded down to two decimals.
With the standard 1% edge:

Read the table from right to left and you see the key point: the payout does not care whether you bet OVER or UNDER, only how much of the range you keep. Two bets with the same win chance pay the same.
RTP and the house edge
Return to player on Original Dice is 99% at every target, which means a 1% house edge. The rounding down of the payout to two decimals adds a hair on top at some targets, so the practical RTP sits between 98.9% and 99%. There is no better or worse target from an expected value standpoint. The choice of target is purely a choice of variance: low targets win often and pay little, high targets win rarely and pay a lot.
The edge is a server setting. If you ever see a payout that does not match the formula above, the number on screen is the truth for that bet, not this guide.
Choosing a target for your bankroll
Because every target has the same expected return, the question is how long you want your session to last and how big a swing you can stomach.
- 2.00× bets lose roughly half the time. Ten losses in a row happen about once every 1,000 sequences, which is common over a long session.
- 9.90× bets lose 90% of the time. Twenty losses in a row are normal.
- 99.00× bets win about once in a hundred rolls. Two hundred losses in a row are not unusual.
A flat stake of 1% to 2% of your session bankroll on 2.00× bets gives you hundreds of rolls of runway. Chasing losses by doubling the stake (martingale) does not change the expected return, it only concentrates the loss into one bad streak. Bet limits and free rounds
Limits are set per coin, not per game. After you log in, the game shows the minimum and maximum for the coin you selected. For BTC the minimum is 0.000001 BTC. There is also a maximum profit per coin, so a 99.00× win on a large stake can be capped at that limit. Zero-amount rounds are always allowed and settle on the server like real ones, which is the cheapest way to test a strategy.
Verifying a roll
Every round shows its hash and salt inline. Before the roll, the server commits to a hashed seed; after it, you can recompute the result from the server seed, your client seed and the nonce. Rotate your client seed any time from the fairness panel. If a recomputed roll ever disagrees with what you were paid, post it in the Q&A board with the round id and we will look at it in public.
