How to verify a Bethropic round yourself: server seed, client seed, nonce and the hash you see before you bet

BethropicMaster0 views

Every Bethropic original game shows a hash and a salt next to each round, and lets you change your client seed whenever you want. That is the whole provably fair system, and it is short enough to understand in five minutes.

The three ingredients

  • Server seed: a secret the server picks in advance. Before any round, it publishes the hash of that secret, so it cannot change the seed after seeing your bet.
  • Client seed: a value you control. Rotate it from the fairness panel at any time; the server cannot predict it.
  • Nonce: a counter that goes up by one each round, so two rounds with the same seeds still produce different results.

The result of a round is a deterministic function of those three values. Because the server committed to its seed by publishing the hash first, and you supplied part of the input, neither side can bend the outcome.

What to check

  1. Before the round, note the hash shown for the server seed.
  2. After the round (or after you rotate seeds), the server reveals the seed. Hash it yourself and confirm it matches the hash you noted. If it does, the seed was fixed before your bet.
  3. Feed the server seed, your client seed and the nonce into the game's result function and confirm the number, card or path you were paid on. Each game guide on this forum lists its formula: Dice maps the value onto 0.01 to 99.99, Limbo takes the first 8 hex digits of the hash into the crash formula, Plinko turns bits into left/right bounces, and so on.

A single mismatch would be a real finding. Post it in the Q&A board with the round id, seeds and nonce and we will work through it in public.

Rotating the client seed

Rotating is free and instant. A good habit is to rotate before a session that matters to you, so the server seed it commits to for the new pair cannot have been chosen with any knowledge of your future seed. Rotating does not change the odds; it only changes which sequence of results you get.

What provably fair does not do

It does not change the house edge. The odds are published (99% RTP on most originals, 96% on Next Step, per-spot values on Baccarat) and verification only proves that the published odds were honoured. It also does not cover the third-party slots, whose random number generation runs in the studios' own systems.

Where to find it

The fairness panel is inside every original game after login. Zero-amount rounds are real server rounds and work with the panel, so you can verify the mechanism without staking anything. Start with Original Dice; its formula is the simplest to recompute by hand.
