Wanted to use it like a weekend farm plus personal camping site with the kids,
so I bought a small plot of land where you can see the Namhan River
For weekend getaways I have a detached house with a garden as a second house,
but that place already has a shed and a house, so I never really needed a truck
But once I actually bought a plot of land with nothing on it, I realized there'd be equipment for leveling the ground,
various farming equipment, fertilizer, gravel, etc. that would need to be moved around,
and it seemed like it'd be more than I thought, so for the first time in my life I looked into buying a truck
If I'm being greedy, I wanted to buy a pickup truck like a Chevy Colorado that the American guys drive,
but I decided with my wife not to spend big money on a car anymore,
so I decided to choose among domestic commercial vehicles
At first I liked the Musso EV, went to the dealership, checked it out, and signed a contract,
but for a car I'd drive maybe once a week going back and forth to the countryside,
and one that's just going to be used to haul stuff and get beat up, spending around 5000 on it
felt like too much of a waste
So the listing I picked instead was a Korando Sports
It's an older model so it's cheap, but the mileage isn't that high,
and it wasn't a neutral color, it actually looked pretty nice
The listing went up on Saturday, and I contacted them on Sunday
But it was clearly a female dealer, yet when I called, a man picked up?
From this point on I started getting a pretty sketchy feeling
From here on, I'll call the male dealer A
Still, there was no comparable deal at this price range, so on Monday
I went straight to Bucheon with the mechanic from Cabazo
As expected, there was no female dealer, and A came out to help
But when I got there, the car was parked all messed up front and back and he told me to just look at it
I said if the car's condition was good I'd be willing to buy, so could he at least move it so I could walk around the parking lot
and check it out, and he reluctantly said ok
I barely managed to finish the inspection
As it turned out, the car's condition was good
The lower suspension bushings were in great shape, no oil or water leaks in the engine room
tires were fine too, the only thing needing repair was the front wheel on the driver's side
there was a slight diff oil leak from the CV joint boot area
Since the car's condition looked good, I was going to sign the contract if we could agree on the extra costs
but he said the female dealer listed on Encar is his wife, so I
could just sign the contract with him???
So I told A to show me his employee ID, and to write the contract
under his own name instead of his wife's, but he said his office is in Incheon
so his employee ID is there, and he can't
write it under his own name
and this is where it got weird again
So I said it was hard to write up the contract like that,
and asked them to at least call the wife to confirm,
and to put the name of the employee whose ID was confirmed on the contract, so let's write it up that way,
and reluctantly they showed me dealer B's employee ID who was in the office,
confirmed by calling his wife,
and decided to write the contract with dealer B's name on it
That dealer B also came over acting super annoyed, and with the dealer's personal info
signed and left
And before writing the contract, I checked the extra fees first
and the transfer fee that should be around 260,000 won was written as 450,000 won
So I told them I saw the transfer fee was around 260,000 won,
and they asked where I saw that, saying you never know how much it'll be
I showed them it's all listed on Encar, and told them to send a receipt for the difference
and refund it, and they just shut their mouth
There was also something about fees on top of that, but that story got
long so I'll skip it
After wrapping things up like that and coming home,
I guess I was tense too, because I was fucking exhausted
In the end, I got a call today about refunding the transfer fee difference
If I hadn't known better, they would've tried to rip me off, right?
This became the moment I decided never to visit used car sites again from now on
