YouTube expanded its regulatory scope in 2023 by organizing content guidelines related to eating disorders.
Previously, the platform mainly restricted content that directly glamorized or promoted eating disorders,
but after the revision, eating behaviors that viewers, including minors, could imitate were also included in the management scope.
Finally, in September, YouTube also aligned its advertising policy with the Community Guidelines on eating disorders, announcing that it will not monetize content that guides dangerous behaviors that viewers could imitate, such as binge eating, hiding food or excessively hoarding it, and laxative abuse.
Following this trend, mukbang YouTubers with large channels like Tzuyang and Hibab are also expected to face restrictions in their activities.
